I WAS BORN in Belleville Ontario in 1948 and grew up in Caracas, Zurich, Los Angeles and Vancouver. These days I divide my time between homes in Vancouver and Qualicum Beach in British Columbia, Canada.
I studied painting, printmaking, design and sculpture at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art and Design), supporting myself through school as a drummer in rock bands and later also as a photographer and graphic designer. I built a career as an magazine art director and design consultant specializing in print and web communications.
Throughout my life I have exhibited my paintings and prints at various public and private galleries including the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery and the City of Vancouver Collection. My work is now exclusively available at gallery222.ca
In recent years I have travelled through Europe and the US, visiting art galleries and shows, finding myself drawn more to three dimensional artwork than paintings. I am now focused on ceramic sculpture as my preferred medium of expression. I enjoy the tactile immediacy of clay and the beauty (and surprise!) of pulling the finished glazed pieces from the kiln. Below are some examples of my paintings whose themes have inspired many of works shown in this site.
